The Estate employees, farm tenants and close associates of the Mansfield Estates gathered on 20th December to celebrate the Golden Wedding of the Earl and Countess of Mansfield at Scone Palace.

Shirley Wood who has looked after the estate accounts for 34 years and cabinet maker Richard Walker who has been 55 years at Scone Palace.
Celebrations started on 19th December with a lunch party for family and close friends with the drinks party for the whole Estate on 20th December.
Lord and Lady Mansfield were married on 19th December 1955 in Cupar, Fife. They lived in London where Lord Mansfield practised as a barrister until 1971 when they returned to Scone Palace.
Thereafter Lord Mansfield became involved in politics both at a local and a national level. He was a County Councillor from 1971 to 1975, a member of the European Parliament from 1973 to 1975, and in the House in Lords. He was Minister of State for Scotland from 1979 to 1983 and in the Northern Ireland office from 1973 to 1974.
Lord and Lady Mansfield take great interest in both the Palace and the wider Estate including the farming, let farms, forestry, shooting and fishing operations. At the centre lies the Palace itself, a major tourist attraction and one of the most historic sites in Scotland – “the crowning place of Scottish kings”.
For this generation, Lord Mansfield’s passion is his collection of orchids. It is one of the biggest in the country and plants in flower from the collection are frequently to be seen in the State Rooms including exclusive RHS registered orchids.
The Palace and grounds, while renowned for romantic weddings, corporate events and host to the Game Conservancy Scottish Fair, has also been a much loved family home for nearly 400 years. Ea
