100th Anniversary of the Black Watch Association at Balhousie Castle, Perth…15.06.19
The final 215 crosses of remembrance for those who died between the Armistice in 1918 and 31 August 1921 are laid in a final act of commemoration for the Great War during the ceremony which saw veterans 100 year old Geordie Reid from Murthly who served in the 10th Battalion The Black Watch during WW2 and 93 year old Colonel Ian Critchley OBE who was a 19 year old Platoon Commander in the 7th Battalion The Black Watch who took part in the Rhine Crossing on 23rd March 1945 lay a wreath to honour the 8960 Black Watch men who lost their lives during The Great War.
The formation of The Black Watch Regimental Association tok place in April 1919 in the aftermath of the Great War (1914-1918) and has three main objectives: 1. To provide support for vetrans & their families who fall on hard times. 2. Is to erect, maintain & when neccesary renew or replace permanent memorials to those who served in the Regiment. 3. To promote comradeship.
The event took place at Balhousie Castle in Perth which is the Regimental home of The Black Watch.
