Flight Lietenant William Reid known as Bill who was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions on the night of November 3rd 1943 when as pilot of Lancaster bomber en route to attack Dusseldorf was injured during an attack by a Messerschmiit and Focker Wulf 190 which left him with injuries to his head, hands and shoulders, Ft Lt Reid continued to Dusseldorf dropping his bombs before making for home.... Bill is pictured wearing his VCwith his wife Violet meeting the Queen Mother.
