The centre is home to the Seaplane Club and is the only place in the UK that is licensed to conduct flying boat training. The gathering was described as the flying boat equivalent to a 'Vintage Car Rally', the flying boat pictured is a 1955 Grumman Alabatross owned by North West Airlines pilto Bill DaSilva from Tecumseh in Michigan, he restored the former US Navy Search and Rescue aircraft, which was based in the Pacific, after buying it in 1994, and stopped off at Lochearnhead on his way back to the states after taking part in Seawings 2000, held in Southampton. The aircraft has a 3000 mile 16 hour range and a top speed of around 130mph.<br />
